About the Art:
“Wheat Bonnet” is a tribute to strength, growth, and the quiet power carried by women. Her hair; stalks of wheat, connect her to the land that sustains us all—reminding us of the deep roots we have in Western Canada, the heart of our country’s abundance. The world rests on her shoulder and the universe flows around her, a symbol of the weight she carries and the hope she holds for the future. The beaded necklace represents seeds or eggs and speaks to creation and responsibility, a promise that from her care, new life will grow. Just as the War Bonnet of a man represents honour, leadership, wisdom and responsibility, her Wheat Bonnet promises growth, new life, resilience, nurturing, and boundless potential.
